Virginia Tech's Degree Development and Support is under the leadership of Wanda Hankins Dean, vice provost for enrollment and degree management. Rosemary Blieszner, assistant vice provost for enrollment and degree management, directs the Office of Degree Development and Support (ODDS).
Purpose of ODDS
- Assists members of the university in developing new degrees, modifying existing degrees, and discontinuing degrees that are no longer needed. Most degree actions at Virginia Tech require documentation, justification, and approval by college level and university level committees, commissions, University Council, Board of Visitors, and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
- Assists with name changes (to degrees, departments, colleges, and/or schools), changes in the format of curriculum delivery, and degree mergers.
- Serves as Virginia Tech's liaison to SCHEV by ensuring that degree actions are prepared in ways conforming to SCHEV rules and regulations, and submitting degree actions to SCHEV for formal approval and/or notification as needed.
